FAQ's

Here are the questions I hear most often. If yours isn’t here, I’d love to hear from you. Email me at alissa@allaboutheadshots.com or call 917.921.2491.

100% Happiness Guarantee

I want you to be 100% happy with your photos. On the day, if you don’t see images that are just what you want, let me know. Our session is built to allow us time to shoot until you have plenty to choose from.

Do you offer free consultations?

Absolutely, I'd love to hear what you have in mind. Email me at alissa@allaboutheadshots.com, use my calendar link or  Call: 917.921.2491 to schedule yours.

How do I book?

Once we chat, and your retainer is received, we'll schedule your wardrobe styling consultation. You'll receive a confirmation email with everything you need to prepare for your styling consultation and session.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

All sessions require a non-refundable retainer paid at the time of booking. This is standard industry practice and reserves your studio time exclusively for you.

What if I don’t know how to pose?

Don’t worry. I understand you can’t smile on demand. I’ll be using my facial expression coaching techniques to guide you. I’ll also be guiding you on your poses. It’ll be fun, and you’ll come away with photos you love.

Where is your studio?

I am based in New York City and New Jersey and happy to come to you, whether that’s on-site at your office or abroad and every session is an experience designed around you.

For group bookings we can arrange a location that’s convenient for you.

Do you shoot on location?

I am based in New York City and New Jersey and happy to come to you, whether that’s on-site at your office or abroad and every session is an experience designed around you.

Why aren't your prices listed on the site?

Because every client's needs are different. I'll be able to share customized pricing after we chat.

What if I need to reschedule?

Please Call: 917.921.2491 or email alissa@allaboutheadshots.com with more than 72 hours or four business days' notice.

I understand emergencies happen, and will work with my clients to reschedule their session. However, if a session is cancelled with less than 72 hours/four business days’ notice, the session fee will be forfeited and another session fee will be required to move the photo session to a new date. When a session is cancelled with such short notice, it doesn't allow us to help other clients timely.

What is your scheduling policy?

I typically book two sessions a day, which means you'll never feel rushed or shuffled out the door to make way for someone else. Your time is yours.

Do you provide hair and makeup?

Yes, absolutely. Just let me know if you’d like hair and makeup. I’m happy to coordinate it.

What do you mean when you say a carefully held space?

It means I'm paying attention to more than the camera. I'm reading the energy in the room  -  yours, your family's, your animal's. I know when to guide and when to go quiet. I know when someone needs a breath and when the moment is ready. My work has never started with the camera. It starts with connection. The space I create is intentional, unhurried, and safe, because what shows up in a photograph depends entirely on what someone feels while it's being taken.

What do you mean when you say you photograph more than what people see?

Every photograph I take is more than a picture. It's an energetic imprint of who you are in that exact moment - your presence, your story, everything you carry with you that day. I'm not just photographing what you look like. I'm photographing who you are at the deepest level. The energy, the emotion, the truth of that moment in time. That's why no two sessions ever produce the same thing, and why clients look at their images and feel something they can't quite put into words. The camera captures the surface. I capture what's underneath.

Why do you retouch photos?

Professional retouching is minimal. I want you to feel good about the process. We remove stray hairs, dark circles under the eyes, brighten your teeth and remove any blemishes. The finished image looks natural and genuine. You'll still look like you.

Giving Back

It's important to me that everyone can be empowered by a professional headshot. That's why I started Get One, Give Back. I donate free headshot sessions and images to people on the path to self-sufficiency.

I also donate to Rosemarie's Rescue and local shelters, because giving back to animals is just as close to my heart.
